Material principles

Four truths of full-stone interiors

These are not marketing adjectives — they are material properties of natural granite, engineered into permanent interior architecture.

01

Principle

Permanent Biological Immunity

Granite offers zero organic matter — no food source for termites, bugs, or boring insects.

Because granite contains zero organic matter, it provides no food source or nesting ground for termites, bugs, or boring insects. Pest control cycles for cabinetry frameworks are eliminated. What traditional luxury woodwork must defend against for decades, Sila simply never invites in.

02

Principle

Absolute Hydrophobic Defense

Natural porosity near zero — no swell, warp, or mold from monsoon humidity and wet zones.

Granite features a natural porosity rating near zero (<0.05%). It cannot absorb liquid, swell under leaking pipes, warp during monsoon humidity, or harbor dangerous spore growth. In kitchens, baths, and closed cabinetry across the home, stone stays structurally honest.

03

Principle

Infinite Structural Endurance

Immense compressive strength keeps drawers, hinges, and tracks perfectly aligned for generations.

Unlike wood composites that sag under heavy loads over time, stone possesses immense compressive strength. It remains perfectly rigid across its entire lifespan, ensuring drawers, hinges, and sliding tracks never fall out of alignment.

04

Principle

Sustainable & Non-Toxic Luxury

100% bio-inert Indian stone — no VOC off-gassing from plywood binders and glues.

Traditional plywood products continuously off-gas harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and formaldehyde from their binding glues. Sila utilizes 100% bio-inert, raw natural stone quarried from Indian ground — luxury without the chemical afterlife.
